Secure Volunteer Area

You're almost there, we just need to dot the i's and cross the t's.

Congratulations!

You've officially booked onto one of our expeditions, now we need to make sure you're 100% prepared.  We have most of your personal information already from your booking form and your Insurance, Flights, Transfers and Visa form. Now we just need your Insurance Declaration Form and your Marine Medical Forms. Simply download the forms below, and submit via the dedicated buttons below, or email a scan to hello@coralcay.org.

Take a look at our checklist for a few extra helpful pointers. We've also added some helpful tips at the end on fundraising to support your trip.

In addition to the Insurance and Medical forms, you also need to make sure you've familiarised yourself with the Project Guide and the Science Workbook below.  If you are a diver, we do also recommend reading our Dive Standards document to familiarise yourself with our practises on site.
The Project Guide contains all the information you need to know to plan your trip, from travel and visa, to equipment and insurance.
The Science Workbook offers an introduction to the training and surveying that you will be doing, including a list of the wonderful species that you may get to see.

Medical Forms

This is the final obstacle before we can confirm your place on site. All CCC personnel must be cleared as fit to dive either through our medical clearance procedure; or by submitting a cleared sports dive medical undertaken by a professional dive physician body and completed within the past year. The medical clearance procedure can take some time, so it is important that you book your appointment as soon as possible and read the front page of the medical form carefully in order to ensure that you and your Dr/physician complete all necessary sections on all five pages. Once complete please email a clear scan to us.

 Insurance

Before you start to incur costs, we would always recommend that you secure the required travel and medical insurance, to ensure that you are covered for all expenditure. Once you have organised your insurance please read and sign the insurance declaration form and submit this below.

We recommend DAN (Silver/Gold) and Dive Master Insurance, two companies that specialise in SCUBA diving coverage. Some policies require that you buy a separate policy to cover non-diving medical emergencies, so do make sure that you read the terms and conditions carefully and consider giving them a call to check that all your personal requirements are met.

Visa

Once you have booked your return flight you can organise your visa. Visa requirements for Egypt depend on your duration of stay and nationality, and rules change, so please check the UK Foreign Advice Website for the most up to date information.

if you are joining us for 2 weeks, you can get a visa on arrival. A visa on arrival is valid for 15 days, so please be absolutely sure that you will be spending less than 15 days in Egypt and that your transfers get you to the airport on time.

If you're joining us for 3 weeks, you will either need to purchase a visa in advance on the Visa2Egypt website or at the airport for $25. Purchasing a visa in advance will give you up to 3 months, but the visa purchased in country will only have 30 days.

Equipment

You can find the full equipment list in the Project Guide. If you would need to borrow dive equipment  a during your stay please let us know, otherwise if you have your own please bring them.

Please check the weather forecast for your trip, as the climate in Egypt is seasonal and this will influence what kit you need to bring. In winter, Dahab is cold and windy, and you will need to bring warm clothes and a 2-3 season sleeping bag. In summer, a 1-2 season sleeping bag will be sufficient. Please ensure you check the weather before departing as the weather can change!

We would encourage volunteers to bring their own wetsuit. Having a wetsuit that fits you well will make a big difference to your diving. If you would like any help with suppliers or brands just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Congratulations, you are now all set to join us. We can't wait to welcome you on site! If you have any last questions don't hesitate to get in touch

Fundraising

Fundraising is quite difficult to provide advice on as organisations and funding pots change all the time. However, we have done our best to collate a number of UK-based grant giving organisations below.

Please be advised that some of these come with restrictions with regards to location and age, but we hope that they offer a good jumping off point. If you successfully apply for a grant do please let us know, we shall add the organisation here so that others can benefit.
There are sometimes more general organisations or methods that you can use. Ones that have become more popular in recent years are GoFundMe pages and shopping fundraising services.

We’ve partnered with easyfundraising, the UK’s leading online shopping fundraising service, to help make raising donations for your CCC expedition a whole lot easier. Simply register your expedition with easyfundraising and every time you shop online through easyfundraising with over 3,300 UK retailers such as Amazon, eBay, JD Sports, John Lewis, Just Eat & Tesco, you collect free expedition donations for your trip!
Please note easyfundraising is partnered with UK based retailers only, therefore if you are based outside of the UK you will unfortunately not be able to benefit from this service.
