How to apply

Applicants must wish to make an active contribution to the protection and sustainable use of their natural resources, whilst exhibiting a clear passion for the marine realm. The scholarship programme should be utilised as a means of providing opportunities for career development, with the prospective scholar being able to demonstrate how the skills and tools developed throughout the programme will assist in their future career prospects.

Step one:
We are not able to accept speculative applications. Please identify the application round which coincides with your availability. The application form will be available to complete when the round opens. At this time you will be asked to send to the relevant Project Scientist:

• A cover letter and fully completed application form (in English)
• Names, addresses and contact details of two referees
• A completed PADI Medical Form
• Photocopy of one proof of national citizenship (National ID, passport, driving license, medical card)

The Project Scientist will be in touch by email to inform you whether your application has been successful and discuss available start dates. If successful they will send you the remaining administration forms which you will need to proceed.

Later in the process (once you have been accepted and medically cleared) we will ask you to pay a deposit of £30 (in PHP) to hold your place. This will then be used towards your insurance payment (or, if you decide to purchase your own insurance, returned to you once you arrive on site).
Step two:
As soon as possible but no later than eight-weeks before the agreed start date of your expedition, email to the relevant Project Scientist:

• Completed CCC Medical Form
• Photocopy of any existing SCUBA diving qualification

The medical form is a 5 page document which you will need to complete with a Dr. This is then cleared in house or if deemed necessary sent to external medical advisers. It should be noted that further tests may be required and scholars must be medically cleared to join the scholarship programme.

Step three:
Once your medical forms have been approved you will need to sign the relevant waivers and agreements, pay the £30 deposit to hold your place, and send to the Project Scientist:

• a copy of your insurance certificate
OR
• a CCC insurance application form
If you're reading this and thinking, I 'm interested in applying but have some questions first, why not get in touch with our in-country Project Scientist who will be happy to advise you.  You can contact them by email at lrcp@coralcay.org .
